I am angry about equal opportunity employer's refusing to take applications for employment at their offices while adds are being displayed on the internet for work. This seems very insignificant to some, But could be a huge factor in employment process, If the employment practices of some companies was biased for a group, And not hiring unless part of a group. What I am referring to might be a company policy that might be filtering living areas over job qualification abilities. I am worried about a practice of government perks going to companies claiming fair and equal opportunity employment, But have mostly immigrants from other states and even other countries working in their companies. I drive to a construction site in Massachusetts and see mostly New Hampshire licence plates, While I am looking for work from this Massachusetts state job location. Not that working across state lines is illegal or immoral and I used to do the same practice myself in construction. I am finding an alarming trend to the application process now that seems to disallow personal contact with potential employers. How does the possibility of a filter created, That can only allow the potential employer to see gang members applications, And not others sound as a equal opportunity employer. This company would receive some special perks sometimes even partial payment of wages from government sources all the while. OK, Now if a man and his wife have one car and no computer for instance whom to say he can get to a computer to fill out an application on line but can't get to work if hired ? My problem with this is their is no reason why a person whom is without work should be kept from applying for work physically in person with out any on line experience involved if his work has no internet activity involved with it.
If we keep this practice growing then a huge trend towards low income or no income class of people do not trend up the income ladder as easily as they used to. Moving up the low income ladder for some could be as easy as steady low income employment that they are having difficulties with because of internet accessibility. But they are fully capable and ready to work at the job they are applying for. Has anyone noticed the craigslist job opportunity resumes that have the same names associated with them as the company names from ten years ago? These are the same people whom owned their own companies then and are now looking to work for other people with resume postings on the internet now.
I would like to suggest that we look at our labor practices as a country and as a state in comparison to the directions of our classifications of wage earnings and decide on better laws to fit our present situations especially where our tax money in some cases is used to help pay for employment of new immigrants here in America. And if you are company calling yourself equal opportunity employer, You had better have a variety of people from the society where you are established and not just gang members of one group. Or at least make the effort by accepting applications in person while hiring.
